Events

Beside competitions, NOVA 26 is a loaded weekend with different things to see and do.

Any Platform Livecoding Jam

Now is your chance to rock whichever livecoding platform or visual tool you prefer most. This event is open to anyone at the party. We ask you to install NDI Tools on the computer running (or through intermediary means, displaying the output of) your livecoding software. This will share your screen to the host running the jam. The jam will be supported by a live audio session on the decks by Subi.

In the time before the jam we will coordinate host details and make sure you can get connected. There is a channel on the NOVA Discord server where you can get help setting this up. Save yourself time by installing NDI ahead of the party.

Music Acts

NOVA wouldn't be NOVA without a healthy roster of music acts! We cap off the evenings of Friday and Saturday with a live music act on stage. On Friday we welcome Virtua Point Zero back to the fold and on Saturday crow and Korruptor will make their NOVA debut!

Virtua Point Zero

Arp scratching. Is it any good? Is it even possible? In Virtua Point Zero's first proper set in over 20 years, we're going to find out. Either way you can expect some really cool beats and bass.

Korruptor

A veteran gamedev and keen demoscene observer, Korruptor is also someone who takes the noble art of the mix very seriously. With three decades of experience and the long running RK3 podcast series, the man knows a thing or two about good music and how to blend it.

crow

What happens when you mix rhythm, maths, mischief and happy little accidents? Find out when crow (aka jtruk) brings his playful live-coded musical style to NOVA.

Floppy Discus Games

A Save Icon to some ...a lethal plastic discus to others! Join other aspiring athletes on The Green for a friendly game of Floppy Discus using the finest vintage of coverdisks and PD shovelware from the late 1980s and up.

Floppy disks are available at the event, but you are welcome to bring your own 3.5" DD or HD vintage.

NOVA 5k Run

What better way to start Saturday at the party than with an invigorating run through the beautiful Devon countryside? (We mean it, the scenery is beautiful.) Just bring your sporting gear and enjoy a nice run out of town, across Budleigh Brook and along the River Otter, followed by a stretch along the seafront and back in time to refresh yourself for a hard day's partying. There are open public showers located nearby.

We will start at 10am on Saturday behind the kitchen, which will be also the finish line. The route itself is mainly flat with the occasional set of steps, and there is a small amount of road running on quiet streets. You can explore the journey on onthegomap.com.

Hello

Midnight Beach Trip

After the compos have ended, we invite you to join us for a midnight pilgrimage to the pebble beach for barbecue, beers and beats. Feel free to bring along some firewood, food and funky lights if you have any.

The beach trip is an excellent moment to have a drink and socialise with friends and peers to talk about the releases from the compos. Night Bacon may spontaneously ensue.
